The ABB REM543CG212AAAA is a high-performance digital rotating machine protection terminal manufactured by ABB, part of the ABB REM 543 series.

Key Product Features and Functions

• Product Status: This series is part of ABB’s classic legacy protection relays (Legacy relays, which have been discontinued since 2022 and are in the end-of-life phase).

• Main Applications: Used for main protection of generators and generator-transformer sets in diesel, hydro, and steam power plants, as well as for the protection of medium-voltage synchronous and asynchronous motors.

• Protection Functions:

    • Selective short-circuit protection, ground fault protection

    • Protection against abnormal operating conditions: overcurrent, load imbalance, overtemperature, overvoltage/undervoltage, reverse power, overfrequency/underfrequency, etc.

    • Motor start-up monitoring: stalled-rotor protection, cumulative start-up counter, etc.

• Hardware and Interfaces:

    • Supports voltage/current measurement via current transformers, sensors, or voltage dividers

    • Equipped with 15 binary inputs, 12 output relays, and an optional RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) interface

    • Supports programmable logic controllers (PLCs), fiber-optic communication, and the IEC 61850 protocol via an adapter; certified for classification society and marine applications.
