Products Description
The ABB PFTL101B 10 kN is a durable load measurement sensor based on 'Pressductor' technology, commonly abbreviated as 'press head' or 'Osman-type durable measuring device'.

Structure and Measurement Principle
The sensor is made from a single piece of stainless steel, with no attached strain gauges and no elastomeric micro-displacement, theoretically resulting in no wear and no fatigue life limitation.
The main body has four through-holes punched at 90° intersections, through which two sets of coils (primary-excitation and secondary-sensing) pass. When there is no load, the secondary coil is located in the 'zero zone' of the excitation magnetic field, producing an output close to 0 mV. When a rolling force/tension F is applied along the measurement direction, the magnetic permeability changes, the magnetic field vector deflects, and the secondary coil induces a millivolt-level voltage. After rectification and filtering by either built-in or external amplifiers, the output is 0–10 V or 4–20 mA, linearly corresponding to 0–10 kN.
Since electromagnetic coupling is used, the sensor body and measurement circuitry can achieve 'electrical isolation,' offering better resistance to lightning strikes and welding interference compared to strain gauge solutions.

The PFTL101B 10 kN/3BSE004197R1 is a 'maintenance-free, harsh-environment-resistant, high-precision' piezo-resistive tension sensor, particularly suitable for continuous production processes in industries such as paper making, textiles, and metal processing, where reliability is critically important; as long as it is installed on a flat surface with the proper tightening torque, it can basically operate stably for 5–10 years without calibration.
